Curriculum
critical-thinking
At Morogoro International School, we have designed a curriculum that emphasises inquiry-based learning and integrates global perspectives to prepare students for the challenges of the future. During the first three years of Secondary, Key Stage 3 (ages 11 to 14), our students deepen and reinforce their knowledge in the core subjects of Mathematics, English, and Science. These are complemented by additional subjects: ICT, French, Swahili, Drama, Art, History, Geography, Business Studies, P.E. and Swimming.
SPORTS at MIS
Enabling children to develop physical, social and cognitive skills
At Morogoro International School, sports play a key role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and active pursuits. We prioritise the happiness and well-being of our community by encouraging participation in a variety of sports. Our students compete in national and international competitions, as well as in regular games against local teams, building teamwork, resilience, and school spirit.
Secondary
Wellbeing
These years are a crucial time for our students as they select subjects for the IGCSE examinations and begin to plan for further academic study. At Morogoro International School we support and guide our students throughout their secondary education, helping them to define their interests so that they can begin to evaluate and analyse the many career paths they can follow.
We prepare our Secondary students to develop a global mindset through PSHE, which stands for Personal, Social, Health, and Economic education. PSHE is taught across all year groups by Form Tutors in a 40-minute lesson each week.
The curriculum, planned by the Assistant Head KS3 Pastoral, is tailored to be age-appropriate and culturally sensitive to meet the needs of our school community.
Learning
Philosophy
At MIS, we believe effective learning involves students being proactive and responsible, initiating activities that promote learning and collaboration. They apply new skills in diverse situations, recognising patterns and exceptions, while developing curiosity and confidence, unafraid to make mistakes. Reflective of their abilities, students become aware of their progress, setting goals and strategies as they advance. They interact effectively with teachers and peers, recognising others’ talents, and develop the ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate information in the real world.
