Cambridge International Curriculum

Morogoro International School provides a Cambridge International Education program for students from age 2 to 19. As one of the oldest international schools in Tanzania, we are proud to offer a nurturing learning environment for our students.

Early Years

Nursery & Reception

MIS Early Years provides a warm, caring and engaging environment for our youngest students. Early Years is a three year program for Nursery and Reception serving children ages 2-5 that has a focus on learning through play. We encourage parents to form engaged partnerships in their child’s learning experience.

Primary

KEY STAGE 1&2 (Y1-6)

Primary school is a vibrant place focused on developing students’ natural curiosity and creativity while facilitating their academic, physical and social/emotional development.

Our Primary School serves students from Year 1 through Year 6. We are a one stream school that follows the guidelines of the Cambridge Primary International Programme. This framework is delivered by experienced and qualified Primary teachers. Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey. Typically for 5 to 11 year olds, it provides a strong foundation for students at the beginning of their schooling.

Lower Secondary

KEY STAGE 3 (Y7-9)

Beginning with Year 7 in Secondary school, we provide a programme that focuses on inquiry-based learning and incorporates global ideas on educating students for a challenging future. Cambridge Lower Secondary is designed for students aged 11 to 14 years and helps prepare them for IGCSE, offering a clear and age-appropriate path as they progress through the Cambridge curriculum.

Cambridge Lower Secondary provides a broad and balanced education for our students, helping them thrive in school. With ten subject options, it delivers core subjects while developing creativity, expression, and well-being..

Cambridge gives the flexibility to shape the curriculum around how we want our students to learn, allowing us to tailor the content to fit our school’s context, culture, and ethos.

IGCSE

KEY STAGE 4 (Y10 & 11)

In Years 10 and 11 a two-year course is followed, leading to the examination and qualification of International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a programme designed to suit the needs of an international student body. The standards of Cambridge IGCSE align with the GCSE qualification taken in England.

Cambridge IGCSE is typically for students aged 14 to 16 years. It provides a flexible curriculum for MIS students who can choose from 15 subjects available. Assessment is done at the end of the two years and includes written, oral, coursework, and practical evaluations. As a truly international qualification, it offers students more choices than any other, providing more subjects, diverse learning methods, and multiple pathways to success.

 AS & A-Levels

KEY STAGE 5 (Y12 & 13)

Cambridge Advanced is typically for students aged 16 to 19 years who need advanced study to prepare for university and higher education. It offers students Cambridge International AS & A Level. Its broad selection of subjects and flexibility allows schools like MIS to shape a curriculum that is both engaging and relevant for our own students.

Thousands of students worldwide secure places at leading universities each year through Cambridge International AS & A Levels. They develop a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills. Some subjects can be started at AS Level and later extended to A Level.

More than the classroom

We are providing an environment for our students to grow

Students of all age-groups are encouraged to excel inside the classroom as much as outside, through being engaged and active in a wide spectrum of creative, physical, social and community activities.

At MIS the After School Programme of Clubs is very impressive with different activities on offer ranging from Spanish to Coding to Eco Club. There is also an opportunity for various school sports teams to train on most afternoons including basketball, football, netball, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, cross country and swimming.
